general.
What is this?
Pollere is a small invite-only game, modded by Coco
amplitude
and Silver
saratogaroad
, and restricted to people on Mod Coco’s timeline. It is heavily inspired by the webseries RWBY.
Characters are approached by agents from an organization called The Lunar Legion, and choose willingly to join the hunt for four ancient Relics in the hopes of convincing two Gods that life is worth keeping before it’s all erased from existence. Characters have to fight Grimm, soulless monsters of black dust and goop, while finding the Relics that have been scattered across a dying world. One shot, no do-overs.
No pressure, right?
What is the format of the game?
Pollere runs on a 1 OOC day = 1 IC day ratio. All interactions will take place on the log community. Weekly logs will go up with opportunities for exploration, interacting with fellow Remnants and NPCs alike, combat and training, gathering resources...anything you can think of with what we provide, really! There will also be top levels for each day of the week. There will be an underlying metaplot with events typically taking place weekly from Fridays through Sundays.
What are the player/character/canon caps like?
Players are limited to 1 character each. We’ll take up to 20 characters but will run with as little as 12. We are capping canons at 2 characters per canon. Mod characters do not count towards the 20-character/canon cap.
Do I need a reserve to apply?
Yes. Reserves will open on
Saturday, August 24th
at
12PM EST
. Applications will open at
3PM EST
the same day, and will close on
Saturday, August 31st
at
11:59PM EST
.
When will the game start, and how long will it run for?
Pollere is slated to begin on
Sunday, September 1st
. We are looking at running the game for around
two months
(updated 8/15/19), though this is subject to change.
Is there an activity check?
Yes. Since Pollere is a short-term game, we’d like players to be active. We will be asking for two activity checks throughout the month.
Activity checks will be due on the
2nd and 4th Saturdays
of every month, starting on the second week after game launch.
Activity checks held on the 2nd Saturday of the month will only require a short write-up of activities your character has been involved in during the AC period. Write-ups don't need to be long; just a few sentences will suffice.
Activity checks held on the 4th Saturday will require 15 comments across two to five threads in addition to another write-up. Comments can be from any thread that takes place at any point during the AC month, but the write-up must be from the AC period (anything between the 2nd and 4th Saturdays). Your AC must consist of threads with at least two different characters (i.e. Thread A is 5 comments with Minato Arisato, Thread B is 5 comments with Kagome Higurashi).
Pollere operates on a two strike system; missing one of either a write up or thread counting AC will count as one strike. Missing two such AC criteria in a row will count as two strikes, and your character will be put into the Dropped status. If you want to stay in the game after such a thing, please contact the Mods as soon as possible.
applications.
Who can I app?
Fandom characters and non-native OCs. Silent and customizable protagonists are fine as long as there’s enough canon evidence (dialogue, introspection, etc.) for them to have a personality. Minor characters are acceptable under the same clause as silent/customizable protagonists. Characters must be at least 16 years old, though we will allow younger characters under a maturity clause.
We will not accept
fandom OCs, native OCs, AUs, CRAUs, or characters from RWBY.
Can I app a character who isn’t human?
Sure! The only condition we have is that they’re shrunken down to 6 feet or shorter.
What if my character was injured before arrival or died in canon?
Injured characters will be healed up. Characters who are dead canonically will be revived and given a sentient body.
What will my character be able to bring with them from home?
Anything they had on their person, minus weapons/anything powered and companions.
mechanics.
Can my character keep their powers?
No, all powers will be taken away and be replaced by Semblances. A Semblance is, in technical terms, a physical manifestation of one’s inherent power as an ability. (It’s probably easier just to think of it as a superpower.)
Your character’s Semblance is unique to them and will have
part of their personality infused with it
. For instance, if they’re hot-headed, they may be able to control fire; a calm character may have the ability to calm a target they come into contact with; a character who's afraid of the dark may have heightened senses at night; and so on, so forth.
What about weapons?
Weapons from home will be replaced with new ones for each character’s Semblance. They don’t have to necessarily match your character’s powers, either! For example, if you wanted to have your character be able to manipulate fire with a baseball bat, you can certainly do that. If you wanted your weapon to be similar to the one your character has from home (i.e. Ichigo Kurosaki with a sword, but not his zanpakuto), that’s fine too, but it can’t be a replica. There has to be some sort of variance to it.
8/29/19:
Weapons may change form if one form is non-combative (i.e. a bayard switching to a sword, ala Voltron), but may not change
type
(i.e. a sword switching to a gun/having gun-like properties).
What’s the deal with character death?
Characters are allowed one temporary death per person. They can be revived via touch stones located around the planet. After that, character deaths are permanent.
There may be certain instances in which it is possible your character
could
die from the setting as a result of their actions. In those instances, we will always give you some sort of warning that an oncoming action will have...
severe
consequences.
What happens if a character is on hiatus or dropped?
Dropped characters will fall into a deep sleep. They will be kept at the nearest town and watched over by a member of The Lunar Legion.
Hiatused characters have this option as well, or they can opt to go on autopilot until their return.
What if I dropped previously but want to app back in?
That’s okay too! We can find a way to write you back in. Just contact one of the mods.
setting.
Where are we?
Welcome to the planet of
Reliquary.
What once was a prosperous planet now seems to be nearly in ruins and overrun by Grimm. Civilizations have formed and efforts have been made to erase, or at the very least, control the Grimm population, but to no avail. Semblance users, known as Hunters and Huntresses, are few and far between. Thus, the remaining inhabitants are now scattered throughout the planet, staying in relatively isolated clusters to avoid having their resources stolen and their people slaughtered by other factions.
What are the Grimm?
Good question. The Grimm (modified and slightly different from their canon counterparts) are creatures that were left behind by the God of Darkness. They are nocturnal and most active once the sun goes down, though they are staved off by fire.
What about our resources?
Many townsfolk are willing to exchange food, clothing, and so on so forth in exchange for
Grimm bones.
Grimm bones are obtained by slaying Grimm and are considered a valuable resource to ordinary civilians, as the numbers of Hunters and Huntresses -- those who are capable of fighting the Grimm -- have dwindled ever since the Grimm population started spiraling out of control. Grimm bones are used by civilians to make different items (tools, weapons, etc.).
OOCly, we will have a post for you to submit threads of your character slaying Grimm and will reward you with random items that may be useful to your character, from weapons to food...and maybe even items from your home world!
